I think it is definately time for a new hairstyle. I realized that college has effected my life tremendously. I knew it before but as i was thinking about changing my hair again i realized it again. Back when i was in middle school all the way up through highschool each year i ahd so many different hairstyles. I didnt stay with one hairstyle for too long at all. Now that i am in college i have no time whatsoever to worry about changing hairstyles. I do miss having that time though.
On another note i can not wait for this weekend. We are having a suprise birthday party for my dad. I cant wait because my dad has been texting me all week asking me when im coming down because he misses me im sure you can tell im a daddys girl). So its going to b a suprise that im in New York in the first place then again that all his friends are there to celebrate his 45th birthday. CANT WAIT!

  1. Taylor, I am enjoying each and every one of your blog prompts. I am interested in the abolitionist group to which you belon and I would like to hear more about what you are doing with that group. I would also like to know how the party for you dad turned out. But most of all I want to know how you think you could change some of these lessons that you are sitting through that you find to be so very, very boring. How would you approach the curriculum so that the students would be excited about the language and learn a great deal at the same time. What specifically are you seeing that you are finding so very boring and what have you seen in the classroom that puts a spark of excitement into these lessons. Anything? Anything? Is one teacher more exciting that another? Is technology being infused? Is music being infused into these lessons? Does the teacher bring in props? Are students given an opportunity to act out some scenarios? Give us more details AND more suggestions. Let's really get into these observations. dr. Ries

    1. The abolitionist group I’m a part of is called Project stay Gold. A member of my church is a social studies teacher and between him and his students, they have heard about the amount of people in slavery wither it is in the workforce or through sex trafficking, and couldn’t be at peace with the stats that revolved around it. They started this group and joined forces with other groups involved in stopping such atrocities. I have recently heard about this and right now because I barely have any time because I am in college I am just raising awareness. I wear a wrist band that says in big bold letters "ABOLITIONIST". When people see this they ask questions about what the word means and why I am wearing a wristband that says it. This gives me an avenue to speak about the cause andr raise awareness. People perish because of lack of knowledge and I truly believe that this problem is still alive today because people really don’t know that it is still happening and to the extent of which it is. I know that during the summer I will be able to become more involved and do more for the cause but as for now I am just raising awareness.

    2. My dad’s birthday party was really good. My mom was able to get so many of his childhood friends to come out and surprise him. When he saw everybody he tried to claim that he knew what was going on, but we knew that wasn’t true. We went out to eat in City Island, Bronx, NY at a restaurant call Sammy's. It is a famous seafood restaurant. It was funny that we went there because my mother totally forgot about my shellfish allergy. Thankfully we had Benadryl. Other than that we had a great time. At one part of the night I just sat back and watched my dad and he looked like a big kid. It’s as if he and his friends were 15 again. It was nice to watch.

    3. From having learned the Spanish language through the school system. I remember My classes to be fun because we were either singing, playing games or looking into the culture by eating their kind of food or something along those lines. Obviously we had to learn so there were many days where we were doing book work or reading, however unless we were taking a test there was never a day when we were only taking notes. There were days where we were challenge to only speak in Spanish especially in the lower because it was expected of us in the higher levels. This kept us interested and involved. So if i was to make some changes i would incorporate more music and activities where they had to get up and be accountable for something and get involved in the lesson. I say this because i see that there is a few students who are good in the language and they are the ones who carry the whole class in a sense. So if everyone is accountable for something then the teacher will be able to know that everyone is involved and learning. I do have to say that the other day when i observed they did do a pictionary game which did get everyone involved and was a great way to review vocabulary for the test.
